What is GIS and ArcGIS Desktop? v10
This class introduces the concept of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). It covers the general need and use of GIS and the fundamental concepts. This class uses transportation as an example but also covers other general uses allowing diverse users understand GIS concepts. During the class a number of new terms are defined while introducing ArcGIS.
Who should take this course? It is an excellent choice for managers over-seeing GIS staff who don't need a lot of detail but need to understand the broad use, application, and challenging aspects of a GIS. It is also the perfect class for the beginner needing to understand the fundamentals of GIS and need to be able to understand how their GIS work fits into the organization. This class is the first in a series of classes and is the recommended beginning course.
