Ed. & Training
Important News as of 10 May 2008: Take a class from someone who has taught 2000+ students in GIS! If you're interested in a particular GIS course try looking at the class schedule. Check out the course descriptions if you want to know the course content for various courses he now teaches. Bruce teaches at a number of locations and maps to those locations are provided. When you want to take a course, the registration form may be downloaded and sent in. Teaching and course development in ArcGIS are a primary focus of Mr. Kessler's life and business. It's hard to find a teacher more dedicated, experienced, qualified, and energetic. It really shows when he is in front of a class.

“Thank you for your patience, your cordiality, and your humor. Also, thank you for your enthusiasm for learning. It is appreciated.” Debra Hooks, USDA Forest Service -- June 2004 Bruce Kessler has been educating and training most of his life. In Boy Scouts he helped teach knot tying and canoeing. In high school he taught saxophone lessons. In college he was a lab teacher in aerial photo interpretation for his major professor. After college he taught canoeing again. And with ESRI he taught numerous topics related to GIS for 12 years. He was one of the first ESRI employees to teach ArcGIS Version 8 and he helped direct the 'teachability' of the new product. He even has helped with world geography at his daughter's school. One unique part of Kessler GIS is that once you take a class from Bruce, you may call or email him a question. He's interested in your challenges and successes and will support you after a class. There just aren't many teachers who will do that. Special notes:
Student comments: "The instructor [Bruce] was very knowledgeable and brought real world examples of when and how certain aspects of the training would apply to us. Well done!" Louis Miller -- Ferry County Washington Public Works -- October 2006 "The class filled in a lot of blanks for me and Bruce's understanding of the software and its architecture was critical to my satisfaction with this course. I plan on taking another course to add to my knowledge base." Connie Grove - GIS Specialist - Spokane County/City of Spokane -- Nov. 2005 "Great teacher. Challenged and kept students participating and thinking." Ryan Strain, Ada County Highway District, Idaho -- Sept. 2005 "Bruce was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject material. As a result of his knowledge and enthusiasm I found the material easier to comprehend and retain. Great instructor." Clyde Lay, Idaho DEQ -- Sept. 2005 “Instructor extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the material. Humorous. Made the best of a very info-intense situation.” James Halpern, USDA Forest Service -- June 2004 Kessler GIS guarantees 100% satisfaction for all students attending courses. If under the the following conditions satisfaction is not reached, Mr. Kessler will refund the cost of the class, minus any expenses, such as unusable course manuals, facility and machine rental, etc. 1) The point(s) of dissatisfaction must be under the control of Kessler GIS; i.e. items not within Kessler GIS control are ESRI course books, computers and speed, room setup, etc. 2) Mr. Kessler will be given a reasonable amount of time to rectify the issue. This may include additional time spent clarifying the issue of misunderstanding, reprinting incorrect materials, etc. 3) If things are not resolved and it is necessary, a review of the dispute by a mutually chosen professional in the industry shall be conducted. The complainant will summarize the issue(s) in an email. Mr. Kessler will also summarize the issue(s) via email. The reviewer will decide if Mr. Kessler has satisfied the issue. If not, then the refund will be issued.
